Projects Moving Along and May is For Makers Month

I have been working back and forth on three projects, and a few experiments. However, I’m about to put everything on hold, except, Reaching for the Stars and embroidery.

Progress is coming along. I have begun to sew the first two rows, but do not have anything to really show, yet.

The #100Days#100Blocks has begun. Angie from Gnome Angel is running it for the second time.  So far I have finished 2 blocks.

The third block is in progress. This entire project is going to be put on hold for now.

This color scheme didn’t work out. So, I changed it.

This color scheme works out much better. I’m going to stop for now, when I finish Block 3, and I will share.  This quilt will have to go behind four other quilts, and will eventually get finished.
And I began to learn embroidery techniques at the beginning of this year. I began with an IG group called  #365 Days of Stitches.
I’ve learned a number of new techniques; Back stitch, couch stitch, french knot, satin stitch, running stitch. My favorites are the satin stitch and the french knot.

I decided to take a break from learning and just practicing new stitches, and create an actual finished embroidered piece. This bunny is cute, and is designed by Alyssa Thomas of Penguin and Fish.  She taught a tutorial on her facebook page for five days, while using this bunny pattern, which I finished. See below. It was useful to actually go through an entire project with someone more experienced. I started this as a true beginner, and am feeling way more confident than I did at the beginning of January. And, I love doing hand work, especially at night.

To support May is For Makers, I purchased Quilt Theory’s new spring collection, (see below).  I am discovering new indie sewists through Etsy shops, the Craftsy shop. Reading what other sewists are making and selling on these platforms, as well as on their web site is a fun discovery. May is For Makers Month 2017, is great idea that came from Lindsey Rhodes @ LR Stitched May is For Makers and began this worthwhile campaign last year.
