Happy National Quilting Day and a Fabric Give-a-Way

Happy National Quilting Day!! I have been under the radar for the last few weeks. I’ve been healing my shoulder (had surgery on 2/22), spending a great deal of time doing physical therapy, and working hard to finish the top for the Midnight Mystery Quilt sponsored by Cheryl@MeadowMistDesigns.

So what is National Quilting Day and what is it all about?

In 1991, the National Quilting Association decided to create a special day to celebrate and inspire lovers of quilting and to encourage others to take up this charming and addictive craft. Quilting Day was born, and has been celebrated ever since by quilt and patchwork lovers every spring.” https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/quilting-day/

I love this quote, because quilting is a “charming and addictive craft,” and I am always “inspired,” by the fabric, the stitches, the process and the designs. It is something to be celebrated.

The web site this quote came from will provide more information. Please check it out.

I love that it falls just before Spring, because this it is the time of year I begin to find so many inspirations. I find myself putting more quilts on my “to do” list. And that’s not all. I sketch more, take more photos, explore neighborhoods and walking outdoors more and watch the crocus, daffodils and tulips pop.  The list goes on and on and….

In honor of National Quilting Day and all quilters, I am offering this give-a-way.

A Lecien jelly roll. The fabric pattern is called sushi, and is full of bright, Spring colors. (This give-a-way is limited to U.S. mailing addresses only.) And please, leave me your e-mail address if you are a no-reply blogger, so I can get in touch with you if you win.

I will announce the winner on Wednesday, March 23rd.

All you need to do leave a comment in my comment box telling me; 1. What is your favorite thing about spring, and 2. What is your favorite spring recipe? Or let me know what quilting project you are working on.

Have a great weekend and Happy National Quilting Day!!

I love comments and read every one of them! 🙂

Hi Anne! Glad to hear you are healing well. I love listening to the birds and seeing all the flowers and trees bud out. It's always fun to see which flowers open first. The smells are glorious, too. I am currently working on the Bonnie Hunter mystery from last year. I have the second set of blocks ready to sew, then it will be time to sew it in to a flimsy. Can't wait to get it done so I can move on to something else!

My favorite thing about spring is longer days. More time to be outside enjoying family and friends. My favorite spring recipe is anything made with fresh produce from our local Farmer's market. Yummy.

My favorite part of spring is getting a nice rain day to wash all the dirt from winter and then all of a sudden the grass is green again and trees blooming. Anything lemon for a recipe. Working on Splendid Sampler ….

My favorite thing about spring in Texas is the fields of bluebonnets. They are so lovely! Currently, I'm working on another scrappy quilt using 2.5" squares. The last quilt I made was out of 2.5" squares and it turned out so cute!

I love seeing the flowers come out, suddenly there is color in the world again. Asparagus! I just cook it in the frying pan with olive oil, garlic salt and enjoy.

My favorite thing about spring is all of the life returning to the world. New grass, flowers, birds, even the insects. I'm working on finishing the binding on a blue & white scrap quilt.
