MIdnight Mystery Quilt QAL From Meadow Mist Designs

I am a bit behind on everything. Blogging, sewing, cleaning, the list goes on. Ever since we came home from Spain, things have been crazy; but the good kind here.

A little backstory first. We have been looking for a slightly bigger home in an HOA, since 2008. Not kidding. We came very close on a few deals that in the end just didn’t work out for some reason or another. Two fell through while we were in Spain on vacation in September. My husband and I were so bummed out. We really wanted to be in a new, bigger home before this year was over.

We came home from a great vacation on September 19th. I’ve posted Part 1 of the trip, which began in Madrid.

It was just before dinner time on Saturday, 9/19. For some reason I decided that I was going to look through the web site for new homes, even though I was exhausted from the flight back to the U.S. that day. So glad I did, because a home that had everything on our wish list, except one thing, was on the web site. Not sure how our real estate agent and us missed it.

I immediately showed it to my husband. Then I texted our real estate agent and her assistant. It went on the market way back on September 1, so I was sure I was going to hear, “Too late. They have a Contract.” But I didn’t….

We made an appointment to see it the next day. This home was even prettier than the pictures, and has lots of space.  For me – a sewing room. For my husband – a workshop – He makes beautiful furniture. Even a mud room.

We put in a bid, even though there were other bids being considered by the sellers. And before 6:30 PM on Sunday evening, we received a call from our real estate agent, that we got the house. Since then we have been on cloud 9, and scrambling to get the inspection done, and all the other necessary steps and paperwork done to complete the contract phase of the process. The closing and moving date will be around Thanksgiving.

Promise to post photos of the condo in Ossining where we’ve lived in for 21 years, and our new home, which is only 15 minutes away from where we live now. This condo is the longest place I have ever lived in, and we’ve had some amazing memories here.

Back to quilting. I joined Cheryl Brickey’s Midnight Mystery Quilt QAL, back in August. I finally finished the flying geese today. I had some that didn’t come out so well. So I re-did them.

I ran out of the blue marble fabric on the right. In my stash I had a blue that was the same color, but not exactly marbled. Is it too different?

Another view of the two blues.

So I have 36 flying geese. I’m just not so sure I like mixing these two blues. Please share your opinion in the comment box. Should I find more blue marbled fabric and re-do the ones made with a close pattern to the blue, marbled fabric? Or, should I just leave it and keep going? Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂

I read every comment, and love them. I respond to everyone via e-mail.

I don't think that mixing the two fabrics is a bad thing! Last year I went scrappy for one of my fabric groupings and was really pleased with the outcome.

And congratulations on purchasing a home! It is awesome how things can really fall into place when it is meant to be. 🙂

Congratulations on the new house! So glad it all worked out for you!

I like the two fabrics, but if it bothers you, and you have enough of the background to redo them, then find the marble and replace them. If you are have the fabric information, maybe one of your readers has some in their stash they would be willing to share with you. I'd be glad to check mine if you can't find it anywhere.

I that the two blues will work out just fine, they are very similar.

I think the two blues are fine but I would mix them up more. If you still have individual FGs, maybe swap some so the blue prints are all mixed up.

Congrats on the new house – it sounds like it was meant to be! I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. 🙂

I didn't even notice the different blues in the first picture, barely see it in the last picture. I think mixing them works. That being said, if you think it will drive you nuts then I would try to find more of the original blue.
